Our Accommodations

Feel at Home in your own Neighborhood

Selkirk Place is designed around the concept of “neighborhoods” so you get to know the people you live with in an intimate circle of friends. Your neighborhood is one of seven and will range from 31 to 38 residents. Each neighborhood has its own exterior patio, dining room, lounges and care station. The color-coordinated interior is beautifully furnished and aesthetically pleasing to provide you with a warm, secure environment. Hallways are carpeted to provide a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. All of the neighborhoods look out at our interior courtyard which has a beautiful pond and waterfall.

Comfort, convenience and safety

Your bedroom suite is attractive wheelchair accessible and has large windows to enjoy the sunny outdoors. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a washbasin, mirror, towel-holder, safety grab-bars and soap dispensers. You are provided with an electric bed with personal controls which allow you to raise your head and feet when you want and it has a comfortable, pressure relief mattress. Your room comes with a three drawer dresser and a convenient nightstand with locking drawer, and slide out writing shelf. A picture rail runs the length of the wall to make it easy to hang your paintings or bulletin boards. Your room comes tracked for a ceiling lift in case you need assistance with transferring from your bed. Each suite has a specious, built-in closet with a shelf and coat rail. Fire-retardant window drapes and linens are provided.

A personal nurse call system is installed in each room beside the bed and in all washrooms in case you need to summon someone for assistance. Call systems can be attached to wheelchairs for emergency communication in case you are worried about having a fall.

Luxurious, under-floor heating is adjustable in each room for your comfort.

A beautiful, lockable, illuminated showcase is located outside your room to display mementoes, photographs and souvenirs to help visitors find your room and to encourage you to share some of your stories.

We have installed an emergency generator adjacent to the building for use in the event of power outages so you will feel secure even if the building’s power goes off. Emergency lighting and power outlets ensure your safety during an electrical outage.

Smoking for residents at Selkirk Place is restricted to the 3rd Floor Smoking Patio/Courtyard. Visitors are not allowed to smoke at Selkirk Place.
